Reflection ACP
My ACP include fundraising for Multiple sclerosis and talking to whoever was part
of the fundraiser. I was first stuck because i did not know what I wanted my ACP
to be on; I went through a few ideas such as talking to the younger generation
but I did not see how that would help with the change part so I decided not to
go with that idea. Then I thought about passing out flyers but then that did not
help with changing anything either.
I figured that this Actionable Change Project was going to be kind of hard, I even
thought about giving up and taking an F but then a real good thought came into
mind such as the fundraiser and donation. The donation was going to the Multiple
Sclerosis Society. The Multiple Sclerosis Society is known to help out with
people that are sick and also give money to those who can not afford the
medicine and the supplies to treat the incurable disease.
To come forth with idea
and to make people from the school donate, so I decided to sell ribbons and have
a dress down down day. At first the dress down day was going to be for thursday
but Mr. Best announced that it was going to be on Friday so I had to change it
to friday meaning to change the flyers that was around the school and then I had
to do it like 2 times which sucked so bad. Then I had to buy and make ribbons at
first I did not know how much the ribbons was going to be and if I had enough
money for it. Good thing I had a sponsor and some help with the money. I had to
buy ribbons, safety pins for the ribbons. At first it was hard and very
frustrating when it came to finding the ribbons because I never brought
ribbons, especially when it came over to 500 people. So I went online to
look up ribbons and I found out the Micheals the store that is known for its
arts and crafts sold ribbons. I made the ribbons and then went around telling
the kids that I was selling that day during lunch hours. During lunch hours that
Tuesday I was kind of nervous because I did not know if people were going to
participate. The kids surprisingly participate and even got into what I was doing.
I even found out the some kids and even teachers knew someone that had MS.
During my time with selling the ribbons I was very nervous because I still had
to come up with a prezi and also a speech that talked about MS. I was also
nervous because I never talked to a lot of people before and if this fundraiser
was going as plan I knew that it would be terrifying when it came to talking to
over 100 people. The thing that was going through my mind was like “Don’t mess
up” or “don’t be boring” I was constantly reciting the same thing over and over
again, I was so sure that I was going to mess up.
Kids after kids came to support Multiple Sclerosis day and I was happy and
excited but then again it made me more than nervous because that meant
more people was going to see my presentation upstairs. When the time came to
talk about MS, first I had to get the auditorium ready for everybody to sit and
see. Then I rehearsed constantly to myself because I was still nervous. When the
time came the whole auditorium was filled and I felt as though I made progress.
In the beginning of my speech I was kind of nervous because like I stated I
never talked to so many people at once. through the middle I played and video of
a lady named Nicole, Nicole spoked about how MS mess her life and how she
struggle with it. This gave the audience a view on someone who’s dealing
with MS. Then I talked about myself and that got them really intrigue which
calmed me and made me less nervous. The students asked a lot of questions that
were really good because that meant they were listening. I felt very happy about
my ACP because I hit every point that I was suppose too.
